  1. My favorite day: Wednesday. I’ll never forget how I finally learned to spell Wednesday. First, the word for something unbelievable: wed. People who don’t know what they were doing often wed. That was an easy beginning. Then nes, sounding a bit like Elliott Ness who I was watching on a weekly TV series. Then the old reliable, day, which I had no trouble with at all. Wed, strange word, nes, the crime fighter, then day, the most interesting division of time, something more than ephemeral. As in, that was the day I first met her. I remember that day so well. After I put all that together, Wednesday was a snap. Of course, Thursday was another matter. Duke

    1. I used to study for tests while watching television. I’d replay the show in my mind and the answers to the questions would come to me. Generally it was either the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits. Funny how the mind works.

  2. I’m so pleased that autumn has put on a display for you, Jan. I hear more and more how climate change is making autumn much shorter. But those colours on the trees are amazing. I’m glad you got the photo before the storm. Sadly, all our autumn foliage is now on the ground. But there’s always next autumn.
