FLIPKA was set in the state of Nevada in the early 1970s. Which means, there were no cell phones. No personal computers and in some remote parts of the state, no telephone service. Why there and why then, you might ask.

Because that’s where I met the character who inspired Dr. Fiona Butters. She had such a unique personality … utterly brave and fearless, curious about all things bizarre and deadly, possessed of a razor sharp tongue and yet tuned into all the neurosis and confusion of being a teenager.
