Nice shot.
Crickets have long antenna, grasshoppers have shortβ¦.

Good to know – thanks!
Fine picture — you were in the right place at the right time, with camera in hand.
Another great photo, Jan! Ummm, but don’t be tempted to try those flowers yourself.
Wondering whether the grasshopper would make a banquet of daffodils, I checked online. The grasshopper should do well, but what about humans munching on the flowers? In an article by CNI called “Drugs from Daffodils,” I found this entry with a startling ending:
Daffodils have been used regularly in folk and traditional medicine, for in addition to the well-documented sickness-inducing properties, extracts can produce numbness, hallucinations, convulsions and cardiac effects, as well as being used for centuries in cancer treatments.
You mean I could have drugged out insects in the backyard!!
Hey, everyone’s having a goooood time.
Oh well that’s a wonderful photo πππ
Thanks Willow – a lucky shot!
It’s brilliant ππ
Love the shot and the visually impaired humor.β:-)β(No disrespect meant to the visually impaired.)
Someone pointed out that as a grasshopper, he couldn’t possibly have been Jiminy Cricket who was, of course, a cricket. At least he wasn’t a locust!

Crickets already? Too early and not warm enough for them here yet, but we have bountiful brunches of daffodils. They’re also the national flower of Wales.
Thanks for linking up to Wordless Wednesday, Jan.
I believe I heard that once before – a lovely choice for national flower I think. Can’t imagine what our national flower is.
I checked and on March 2, 1903 theΒ California poppy,Β EschscholziaΒ californica, became the official state flower of California. I’ve seen them here in Wales, too, but they are rare.
Ah, thanks Hugh. That makes sense as right now they are all over the place. Probably not for long though.
Wonderful shot, Jan. Thank you!
Hi Jan, this is a terrific photograph.
