Oahu #ThursdayDoors

Yes, I have run away to Hawaii – the southern tip of the island of Oahu. The picture above is a wedding venue within walking distance of the Obama estate (via the beach). You can’t actually see his estate from the road.

Path leading to beach. On Oahu people cannot restrict beach access. Even ex-Presidents.

The second image is from a small botanical garden near the Obama estate which is free to local residents and rather difficult to find!

  1. Ah, the .1%’ers and their Hawaiian getaways. Not you and yours. Just, all the others. Like, gotta have a Yellowstone Club, Jackson Hole mansion and a chunk of Hawaii or else you’re not actually “in the .1%’ers club”.

Of all the states to potentially secede from the Union, Hawaii seems the most likely. The natives rising up and burning out the Ellisons and Zorkerborgs. Maybe they’ll treat the Obamas differently, being, like, native himself.

    1. Obama’s place isn’t that spectacular and the nearby town is what most folks would call rundown but it’s pretty typical laidback South Island style. They’re not into curb appeal. People in this parts love Obama but you get closer to the base and it’s all Maga land.

  2. I’ve been to HA a few times and enjoyed it. Oahu was cool and relaxed and had my kind of vibe, even before it became associated with the Obamas. Who are, of course, so cool!

    1. You can actually walk on the beach in front of Obama’s place. But it’s off the beaten path and parking is difficult in the surrounding neighborhoods. My son in law knows the contractor who renovated the estate.

  3. Enjoy Hawaï. Never been there, but Daughter #1 went this summer with hubby and kids. To see an old colleague from Doctors without borders. They loved it. And beach access is the law. 👍🏻

    1. Near Honolulu there are way too many people but they do manage to keep the “chill vibes” going. Kauai is my favorite island but it wasn’t in the cards for this trip!

  4. Beautiful! I love Hawaii, have been 3 times so far…twice to Oahu, once to Maui. I’d love to see the Big Island and Kauai. Your pictures are lovely.

    1. There’s actually an issue with the stretch of beach in front of Obama’s estate – he built a seawall (to prevent erosion) which does make it more difficult to walk on that stretch. He’s getting a lot of flack so we’ll see what happens.
