I’m amazed at how close he/she got to you. They’re shy in the UK, although we often see them running around the treetops. They occasionally dig in the gardens and hide acorns (for winter storage).

I think of them as flying rats but my husband adores them. He even gives them names and back stories.

There was a sheet of glass between us. They all seem to have different personalities here – some are friendly while others keep their distance.

Over twenty years ago I fed a squirrel a Junior Mint and I’ve always worried if it got sick or not.
I’m not sure what the lifespan of a squirrel is but probably not twenty years – especially in the wild,
