Turtle update

Today was another lovely day and I needed to get away from the house. Luckily a couple of friends felt the same way and we went to check out the turtle population at Cascade Lake. And guess what?

There was a baby turtle swimming near the limb where the adult turtles’ like to sunbathe. We were at a distance so this was the best shot I could get with my iPhone camera.

To the right are about seven large fish – we guessed they might be catfish.

  1. Great pictures! I’ve never been to Lake Cascade, though I live in Walnut Creek. We see turtles at Heather Farm, and I love seeing them. Usually they are in the water though, not sunbathing.

    1. We’ve only had a few sunny days so far this year and those turtles seemed determined to absorb as much as they could! I don’t blame them – I feel the same!

  2. Someday in the future, people will discuss your turtle updates. They will use the ten new holes in their heads and ask each other with ten echo questions, what is a turtle, what is a turtle, what is a turtle? The questions will careen between the twenty-fingered hands of high walls. The slightly burned, old paper dictionaries will flutter open and only offer slight comfort. Such are the times. Duke

  3. It seems like the turtle population is okay at Cascade Lake. It’s always a good feeling when animals are thriving in their natural environment.

    Thanks for the update, Jan!
