This store doesn’t look too fancy but it’s the favorite spot of a very famous person. The unhappy lad next to its door is impatiently waiting for his shaved ice order to be ready.
This cutie pie (growing up way too fast) is standing next to a picture of the very famous man who frequents Kokonuts every time he’s on Oahu. His initials are BO. Don’t ask me how these shaved ice thingies taste. I’d had a knockoff at Sea Life the day before and was not impressed.

Sea Life Park focuses primarily on sharks, dolphins, all kinds of tropical fish, penguins, sea lions, giant sea turtles and otters but does have a aviary filled with parakeets and other small birds that you can feed at your own risk.

They’re very excitable and aggressive and their wild behavior caused several children to run from the aviary screeching as though in a scene from the movie The Birds.
Sea Life is a smallish aquatic park most famous for being the setting for scenes from the Adam Sandler movie 50 First Dates. I enjoyed it’s intimacy but some people feel it’s overpriced for what it is.

Feed at your own risk?
Are they man eating parakeets…?
😳
No … there are just so many of them and when they see you have a handful of seed, they go a little crazy! I think you would like the park – you can get really close to the animals. I was chasing a seven year old so didn’t get a lot of time for pictures!
And I thought our parakeets were bad
Lovely photo are they family, who is B.O? We have two parakeets visit us for food they are well behaved. 💜
Yes – grandkids! BO is Barack Obama (ex president of the US who went to HS not far from Kokonuts)
The grandchildren look lovely …Oh! Barack Obama….never thought of him…then again I am not American. I did look at the photo in the shop window but couldn’t see it properly 💜
Lovely photos. I enjoy visiting the aviary in Pittsburgh. I like smaller venues like that. Overpriced is had to judge, all those animals need to be fed. We’ve been inside with Lorikeets, but not to feed them. I can see how the encounter might frighten a child.
The dolphin show (a main draw) was on hiatus so it was probably less crowded than usual – fine with me as I don’t need the shows!
Fun door, with a story.
Thanks, Jan!
It’s a strip mall shop but I guess it has sentimental value to Obama. O
That’s cool!
I like that better than a gold toilet having sentimental value. (Did I say that? 🙄)
Fun post! I remember loving shaved ice at carnivals when I was a child. I’m not sure I’d enjoy the aviary with those scary parakeets. 🙂 Adorable fish and children, Jan.
I probably should have tried the shaved ice but I’d had a slushie the day before and was turned off to the whole idea of flavored ice! A lot of people couldn’t handle those birds!
I like bird parks 🦜. Some birds are very aggressive.
