Cloud Dancing

I haven’t much to say today because I’ve been busy cloud dancing, at least in my mind. To me, it’s far healthier than watching the news.

What do you see? Looks like a trio of seahorses to me.

This year Winter rarely took a break to give us a peak at Spring. Selfish old Winter just held on and on and I’m glad that he did. Here in California we needed the water and we needed the cool temps to stay around and slow the thaw of all that snow in the mountains.

Some afternoons there are a thousand things I should be doing but the clouds are so bewitching that often the tasks of the day must line up and wait.

Far above the Smoke Bushes they dance. I thought these plants had died during the drought but it looks like they’re mounting a second coming.
The sun whispers to the clouds from behind the great pines. What do you suppose Ole Sol is saying?

I suppose Miss Summer will arrive by and by. Probably in September. Until then I must remember not to stare up at the clouds.

  1. Of course, all of this will go better with a joint. Yet, somehow you ended up sounding like a very wise woman at the end of the world and she was finding philosophy and humanity just about everywhere. Your post is a monolog from the Matrix (the first one) with the black woman in the apron making cookies. Anyway, you got me about half way through and I was suddenly thinking about how the gods were everywhere, in the pines and the weather and the sun and everything else in between. The gods were in California on the downhill side of your lot. Love. Duke

    1. Thanks Duke. It did feel like being surrounded by the gods and goddesses. I was definitely mind tripping – felt good. As Geoff said “mind hydration.”

  2. Clouds do a service in terms of mental health management. Mind hydration I suppose you’d call it. Today, here in London we are officially cloud free and while it’s very jolly and beautiful, it does mean the sky lacks character. Keep staring. At some point it will become apparent why…

  3. I think Ol’ Sol is saying “it is a trio of seahorses!”.
Lovely post, Jan. You’re right! Cloud gazing is healthier than video gazing.

      1. It actually depends, Jan. Clouds are the initiators of spectacular sunsets often and we don’t have clouds all that often. Some of our sunsets are quite pale and plain in comparison to some pictures I see from places like Norway. When there is some cloud, we get our magnificent red, orange and pink bush sunsets.
