Holy moly!
I feel such a simpleton with my fusilli + oil + grated cheddar all mixed up.
Sometime no cheese is involved. I just use yeast flakes.
Bon appetit, Jan!
Cheese is good food! It’s filled with calcium and protein. One could live on cheese… but not cigarettes. Be well, and don’t worry about your cheese addiction.
LOL!!!!
I didn’t grow up eating mac ‘n cheese unless you count baked ziti so when my Boston Irish husband asked if I could make some I figured it was just cheese sauce and elbows and proceeded to make that but with ingredients that gave it some flavor – after the first try my husband insisted I double the recipe – one pan was eaten straight away the other was portioned out and popped into the freezer for him to take to work for lunches – I think it tasted even better when re-heated. Personally I don’t understand bread crumb toppings but my husband did like cheese on top and on half a pan I put disgusting Kraft slices to make a skin…eww! Later I substituted real quality cheese slices – big improvement but still gross in my book.
I wasn’t a Mac and Cheese fan either but this recipe is delicious. I think the key is the chicken broth – my husband makes his own chicken broth from scratch – which is quite exhausting and so I wouldn’t recommend it. Just find a high quality broth. And the cream — definitely make sure to add real cream – no subs. The garlic bread crumbs give the dish a crunchy topping. I love garlic so I always at least double the amount. I always add spinach, mushrooms and sometimes jalapeños – but hubby thinks that’s a real sacrelig.
Just wondering why bread has to be white? White bread will NEVER pass through my door. The most common bread to enter our home is Ukrainian Rye, made by City Bread in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Good. My partner is the mac n cheese specialist in the house, she loves cheese however she can get it. She also really likes pasta. And we both love garlic.
This so delicious 😋 Anita
Will be making this one next time.
7 cups of cheese? I’m in!
👍
Let me know how it goes!
Of course…
Hi Jan,
This looks like the Gutenberg Bible of Mac & Cheese. As usual, we are thinking alike. I just posted a story today about invisibility and silence. Duke
It is – I’ve been known to add spinach, mushrooms and jalapenos to really spice it up. It’s definitely adult Mac&Cheese.
Hi Jan, this recipe is quite different from mine. It sounds very nice.
It’s very creamy and cheesy. Real comfort food.
Wow this is very different from the one I make. I never thought of putting cayenne pepper in mine!
The chicken stock in this recipe makes it lighter than other recipes. You can hardly notice the cayenne!
Mac and Cheese is a regular in our rotation of dinners – I can jazz it up with these ideas!
We love mac and cheese and I have an excellent recipe as well. So delicious! Mine uses just a bit of cayenne. 😁
Macn’cheese for a month!
As a side dish, definitely.
the dry mustard would really give it nice “spicey hit”
Looks delicious. I haven’t made Mac and Cheese from scratch in years. 🤔
We started making it during the pandemic. It is the absolute epitome of comfort food.

I’m a cheese-a-holic. I know it’s not that good for me but heck, I don’t smoke!

Of course not! I would love the Ukrainian Rye topping!
