Hard to believe, but we’ve made it to the tenth month of the year 2025.
In Japan it appears to be a quiet month with only the 13th (Sports Day) as a holiday. From what I’ve read online, a few years back the Japanese instituted Happy Mondays (second Monday of each month) as a way to alleviate the stress of returning to work. Not all Happy Mondays are national holidays but people are encouraged to celebrate them in some way or another.
This month’s flower is a complete mystery to me. The nearest match I could find was the Japanese WIndflower about to bloom.
This flower is classified as an anemone (from the Greek for the tears of Aphrodite as she mourned the loss of Adonis). Depending on which language of flowers you ascribe you, they can bring luck or protect against evil, portend rain or symbolize anticipation. Like many beautiful things, you don’t want to eat the darn things!
For me this portends to be a busy month. Oct 2, 11, 18, 24, 26 and 27 are birthdays that need to be remembered and celebrated (and I’m sure I forgot someone!) Next week we attempt a trip to Kauai and with luck, the Napali Coast. So I better get busy. Have a great month everyone!

I can see the woman! I think it’s a great idea to find small ways to celebrate, especially when there really isn’t much to feel celebratory about.
I’m glad you saw the woman! Most people think I’m somewhat daft always going on about cloud structures! Things do seem to be getting worse, don’t they? The utter stupidity of most of it really makes me wonder about the human race. At least there are lovely folks like you who can find celebration in the clouds!
I see a woman in the leaves. Two eyes and nose. Another head profile looking to the right with a forgotten towel trailing behind her body. Maybe her long, wet hair is still in the towel drying. Also, she seems to be taking a pause from playing the flute. Perhaps most importantly there is one of the devil’s minions with an evil looking dog’s head about to bark at or bite her. Wait a minute, is this one of those tests to prove I’m a human before proceeding into you site? Clever, I must say. Duke

It looks like the darker clouds do make a woman that id facing right in the picture and she has long flowing hair and she might be playing a violin. I also see a little winged angel following her on the left side of the picture.

The years keep flying by. 2025 is no exception.
This year has been so stressful that although time flies, it seems to sputter in an uncomfortable way.At least for me.
We have anemones everywhere in our garden. Lovely but a bit of a weed sometimes
I’ve read that they’re on the “marginally invasive” list. My garden is filled with the invasives and the “volunteers” – each year I keep vowing to hire a gardener and each year ….
blossons or weird white persimmons? We have ghost berries here in the NW, look kinda like that
Gosh – could be either. It’s so hard to tell. Probably more likely persimmon as they grow in Japan.
I know it’s crazy, 2025 is almost gone! I love your calendar. I usually don’t care too much for that size, but the artwork is beautiful, and I’m tempted to buy one next year.
They’re very high quality and you’re are supposed to poke out the square in the middle and send it as a postcard but so far I can’t part with them!
Understandable, I wouldn’t either. I’ll be framing some of them and putting them in my room or office.
October is a beautiful month in SA. Every tree is in blossom.
